March’s book of the month, A Scarlet Fever, started as a dream. Not a fevered dream, just a regular, old dream. The only things I remember from the dream are vampires and a church — which are the two things that made it into the book.

If you’ve read the Bloodborne Pathogens series, you might realize I play fast and lose with folklore, mythology and religious lore. However, I did a lot of research on vampires, werewolves, angels and demons.
For examples, vampires in my world are still affected by sunlight, silver and ash (the wood not the burnt wood), just not always in the same ways as other stories.
And the phases of vampirism by legends. All vampires in the series start off as dhamphir, which in legend are the children of vampires and humans. So, wait, Blade is dhampir? Why am I only realizing this now?
What you might not realize is where the series titles comes from.
