As an artist, there are many sparks that can light the fire of imagination.
Maybe the spark is a conversation or listening to a podcast, hearing about a local legend or reading a book. Heck, maybe you’re prone to talking to bees in your garden and wonder what would happen if the bee spoke back. From current events to ancient history, natural phenomena to the supernatural, epic love stories or personal history — it’s all story fodder.
With an endless universe of ideas all around us, it can be hard to pick one to write next. Maybe you feel the same angst.
With all these creative sparks flying around, constraining the imagination can be the hardest challenge. So, a few months ago, us two authors behind Armchair Alien set ourselves just such a challenge — we’d draw a set of cards from Jeannette’s box o’ cards and each write a story that used the same cards as inspiration, then we’d post our stories here. Since I used this as procrastination to avoid working on edits to book 3 of The Lyra Cycle (which I’m back to work on), I finished mine first. So tune in tomorrow when I start sharing my story Scroll down for the link.
If you’re an author, what would you write with these cards? If they inspire you, feel free to share and tag us — we’d love to see what you write.
