I’m an odd duck, curious cat, and author of fantasy and scifi - at least that’s what my website says so. I write dark urban fantasy under C. Rene Astle while my scifi books and stories are found under the super secret psuedonym of Rene Astle - clever, I know!

I gained a love of fiction, fantasy in particular, and a voracious appetite for story literally at my mother’s knee, being read The Hobbit and Chronicles of Narnia at bedtime – because those are the types of stories my mom wanted to read.

From my father, I got an enduring curiosity about the universe, earned shivering in the dark beside a telescope on cold, Canadian winter nights waiting to witness some celestial event. Which might have inspire my scifi stories.

I love history, mythology and archeology along with the cosmos, so look for me to share musing on those along with urban fantasy and scifi stories.
